Paula Godínez studied at the Kunsthochschule Kassel, focusing on time-based media. In her multidisciplinary practice, she explores alternative ways of thinking and living that raise awareness and inspire social change towards a more empathetic world.
Her work delves into the relationships between humans, animals, and society, critically addressing issues such as abuse of power, violation of basic rights, and violence. Her films and video installations blend documentary and fiction, offering a broader context for the themes she explores.
KUBEES, an artistic short film created during her master's degree, incorporates documentary footage and interviews from various regions of Mexico. Against the backdrop of colonial history, it examines entrenched patriarchal and service-oriented societal norms while presenting a utopian vision through choreography, music, and costumes.
Currently, Paula Godínez is in the research phase for the documentary film The Pollinator's Advocate. Her aim is to capture and analyze the voices of people advocating for the protection of native stingless bees (Meliponinos) and the defense of territories in Mexico.
In 2015, at the beginning of her studies, together with other students she co-founded Panalobby– a student initiative addressing the bureaucratic hurdles faced by non-European students at German universities and authorities. To raise public awareness of these issues, Panalobby developed the game Non-German-Student ärgere dich nicht.
